Surfboard wax was revolutionized in 1972 by John Dahl, an employee of Surf Research

who started his own surf-traction company in Encinitas, California called Wax Research.

John continued to refine his wax process and launched "Sticky Bumps" in the early 1990's.

Sticky Bumps surfboard wax remains as a top brand of surfboard wax used by

today's professional surfers.
